Past Masters wear their Masonic ring ‘pointing out’ as opposed to ‘pointing in’ like other Brothers. The ring is displayed towards others to see. Everyone that sees the Past Master ring identifies them as a Mason and ask them questions. In essence, Past Masters become Freemason ambassadors willing to introduce the Brotherhood to others. Other Freemasons traditionally wear their rings ‘pointing in’ until they become a Past Master and earn the right to wear their ring ‘pointing out.’
