The Masonic Cable Tow rope is part of the dressing of a Masonic candidate that agrees to help a Brother with his power. The length of the Masonic Cable Tow Rope is a symbol of the abilities of the candidate to help his Brother. The candidate helps the Brother โ€˜if it be within the length of his two rope.โ€™

The length of the cable tow rope is defined as a cableโ€™s length. It is measured as three miles for an Entered Apprentice. The Masonic Cable Tow Rope binds a Mason to the Freemason Fraternity and bonds the Brotherhood to the Mason.
